Amidst the hustle and bustle of wholesale stores in downtown LA, there is an abundance of small carts or trucks that are built with a makeshift kitchen comprised of a portable butane stove with foil lined trays. It’s the aroma coming from these tiny carts that will draw you to them and their bacon wrapped hotdogs with onions, peppers and jalapenos. They are too good to resist especially after an exhausting day of powering through the endless shops that spans approximately 100 blocks!
There is really no recipe for these bacon wrapped hotdogs but instead of frying them on a
tin foil pan, i baked them in the convection oven at 375F for 30 mins until the bacon is golden brown. The onions and bell peppers were simply sauteed in coconut oil until soft and slightly caramelized. I used the natural beef hotdogs and sunday bacon from Applegate farms since Sprouts currently sells them at 20% off. These are definitely up to par and the best part is, there’s no mystery meat lurking in the ingredients list!
